West Allis Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas.
At West Allis Animal Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy.
Brian Nelson, DVM
Dr. Nelson is a 1978 graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He started at West Allis Animal Hospital in August 1978 working for Dr. W. G. Schwalbe and ended up buying the practice from him. He and his wife Karen have 3 grown sons, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. He has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, laser surgery, and ferret medicine and surgery. In his spare time he enjoys golf, racquetball, music, movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Shari Severson, DVM
Dr. Severson graduated from the University of WI School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1988. She spent one year in Akron, Ohio, specializing in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. She has been at the West Allis Animal Hospital since August of 1990 and has a special interest in internal medicine and dermatology, but enjoys surgery as well.
She has 3 children and two furry beasts at home, golden retrievers, who are more spoiled than her kids, if possible. She also has one bunny. Out of the office, she likes to read when time permits, garden, and bake different breads and rolls. However, she feels that most of her off time is spent running her kids from one of their events to another. Two of her children are teenagers. Need we say more?!!!
